RESPONSIBILITES: 

• Collaborate with the creative directors and design team to conceptualize and develop seasonal collections. This includes:
• Broad and deep research on specific topics and inspirations
• Creation of compelling mood boards
• Conduct color research and develop a seasonal color card, aligning with the past collections and anticipating future trends
• Research current fashion trends, fabrics, and techniques to inspire and inform design decisions
• Create original sketches (by hand & digital), technical drawings, and prototypes that align with the brand’s avant-garde vision
• Present design concepts and finished pieces to the Head of Design and Creative Directors for approval and feedback
• Development of new silhouettes, shapes and unique fabrication techniques distinctive and reflective of VIKTOR&ROLF’s aesthetic
• Design across all categories for women's ready-to-wear and remain flexible to work on menswear, accessories, and collaborative projects
• Creation of clear and precise tech packs with detailed technical design explanations for pattern makers and manufacturers
• Revise and update drawings, CADs, artworks, and other essential files as needed throughout the process to ensure all relevant parties are informed of changes
• Develop and maintain collection overviews and presentations throughout the course of the design development phase for internal and external use, ensuring all information is always up-to-date in all systems
• Work closely with merchandising, product development, sales and e-commerce team to bring designs to fruition
• Organize, coordinate and facilitate meetings with Creative Director, the Head of Design, cross-functional team members and external partners
• Participate in fitting sessions, making adjustments and alterations as needed to achieve the perfect fit and finish
• Overseeing the workload management and task delegation for a consistent team of design assistants and trainees
• Ensure maintenance of proto fabric archive and trims inventory
• Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in fashion design

QUALIFICATIONS: 

•    2-4 years of relevant work experience in a fashion design role, ideally within a luxury or avant-garde fashion house
•    A degree in Fashion Design or a related field
•    A portfolio showcasing a strong design sensibility and a range of successful projects
•    Excellent command of the English language both written and spoken (2nd language is a plus, not a requirement)
•    Strong sketching and illustration skills, with proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
•    A deep understanding of garment construction and textile properties
•    Extensive expertise in pattern cutting and proficient in sewing, with a hands-on approach
•    Exceptional creativity and an eye for detail, with a passion for innovative and experimental design
•    Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic setting
•    Strong planning and organizational skills
•    Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with team members 
•    Capable of multitasking in an energetic, fast-paced, and hands-on environment
•    Passion for the product, strong aesthetic eye, a sense for design language and taste, with strict attention to detail
•    Proven ability to adapt to changing industry trends and implement innovative solutions
•    Flexibility to work on various design projects, including womenswear, menswear, accessories, and collaborations
•    Must exhibit kindness and respect towards colleagues and partners, maintaining a positive and professional attitude at all times
