At Diesel’s Head Office in Milan, we are looking for a Senior Business & Financial Controller with a strong focus on the Retail channel to join our Controlling Department.

The role will report directly to the Financial Controlling Manager within the European Finance Team and will work in close collaboration with both the HQ Controlling and Administration departments, as well as with local administration teams across the region.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving cost-efficiency initiatives across the organization and ensuring the timely and accurate execution of closing and planning processes for the assigned countries. A key part of the role will also involve strengthening the partnership with key business stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making and financial performance improvements.

 

Activities

  • Actual closure: Perform month-end closing activities for the assigned major European legal entities, in accordance with Group policies, procedures, and reporting calendar.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: support the controlling team and the Business partner for the budget & forecast process of the Europe region, according to the Countries/costs assigned, gathering input and developing an understanding of budget profile, including variances by channels, investment, operating expenses, Capex and Cash Flow, providing analysis of the financial forecasts. A specific focus on IFRS16 may be required.
  • Financial Control: grant data accuracy and reliability, in accordance with Group policies and procedures, interfacing with those functions helpful to support the daily work both at regional and HQ level. Support Europe Financial controlling manager and Business Partners in data analysis and in the decision-making process, providing with the first level of analysis and comments.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitoring and analyzing the region's performance against its business targets, budget / forecast vs actual, identifying potential risk, issues and variances to plans, reporting performance to the Regional management & Business partner;
  • Reporting: support the controlling team to build and maintain a valuable reporting package to share monthly results with all Business Partners.
  • Cross Functional Relationships: Build and maintain strong working relationships at all levels within the organization and HQ Strategic, Planning and Control Function;
  • Manager support: As a Senior Controller, support the Retail Controlling Manager in coordinating junior team members, providing guidance and day-to-day support, and contributing to major strategic initiatives and decision-making activities related to the Retail channel.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Financial Controlling or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
  • Fluency in English; additional European languages are considered a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of SAP is required
  • Familiarity with Hyperion and/or Board is considered an advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Confident in public speaking and presenting financial insights to senior stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capability to collaborate effectively in a matrix organization
  • Solid financial acumen and business understanding
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, with IFRS 16 expertise required
