Maison Margiela is a Paris-based fashion house founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. Celebrating unconventional aesthetics and embracing the philosophy that fashion is an art of expression rather than a cult of personality, Maison Margiela offers haute couture, ready-to-wear for women and men, contemporary line MM6, footwear, interior design, and accessories, including leather goods, fine jewelry and fragrance.

In 2002, the French house became part of OTB. Along with sister brands of the group, Maison Margiela continues pushing the boundaries of modern fashion while preserving its distinctive identity and heritage.
 

The Director of Wholesale owns the commercial performance and strategic growth of the wholesale business across North America. This role drives distribution strategy, manages key retail partnerships, and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure wholesale execution is aligned with global brand objectives.

Reports To: Managing Director, Maison Margiela & MM6 - North America

Responsibilities

  • Own wholesale revenue targets, P&L, and seasonal forecasting across all accounts and regions.
  • Develop and execute North American wholesale strategy, including distribution management, new account development, and brand elevation standards.
  • Serve as the senior relationship lead for key retail partners; negotiate terms, assortments, exclusives, and distribution agreements.
  • Partner with accounts on seasonal sales and marketing plans to drive sell-through performance.
  • Analyze sell-in and sell-through data to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and inform commercial strategy.
  • Lead seasonal market appointments, showroom strategy, and order management; travel to Paris seasonally for selling campaigns and collections presentations.
  • Monitor competitive activity and marketplace dynamics to identify trends and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, and visual merchandising teams to ensure brand-aligned assortments and consistent in-store storytelling.
  • Train and prepare Account Executives for market appointments.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the wholesale team.
  • Represent wholesale in executive leadership discussions and contribute to broader commercial strategy.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of luxury goods wholesale experience
  • Proven track record managing major luxury retail partners and driving revenue growth
  • Deep knowledge of luxury distribution strategy, market dynamics, and consumer behavior
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and strategic planning skills
  • Exceptional leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; global market experience required
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically to key accounts and internationally to Paris for seasonal selling campaigns

Salary Range - $155k - 165k
