Description:

The Visual Merchandising Manager, West Coast for DIESEL is responsible for leading the development and execution of the visual merchandising strategy for the West Coast Region. This role ensures that key marketing and merchandising objectives are met on time, within budget, and in alignment with Diesel’s brand strategy. The ideal candidate will analyze customer and store needs to implement effective visual communication and training programs, driving consistency and excellence in presentation across all West Coast locations.

Role and Responsibilities:

Visual

  • Implementation of the Diesel Visual Guidelines in the following areas
  • Window installations
  • In store merchandising
  • Windows and in store mannequins
  • In store POP materials placements
  • Overall fixture placement and store layout
  • Responsible for maintaining merchandising standards and product levels on the sales floor according to the Visual Merchandising Guidelines & store business needs
  • Ensure that all Visual Merchandising Guidelines are implemented effectively
  • Responsible for ordering POP material when needed for each window and in store installation for each Retail store based on need and budget- partnership with HO Visual Team
  • Plans of day to day and annual workflow
  • Establishes priorities and individual objectives in partnership with your Field Manager
  • Determines resources and equipment required in function to enable objective achievement.  Submits requests for resources as required

 

Merchandising

  • Collaborate with your Field Managers, HO Visual Team, Planning Departments on any product or replenishment needs as well as any quality issues
  • Implement Diesel Merchandising directives, utilizing the sale reports to maximize sales and to    identify product sales opportunities
  • Initiate VM updates & floor changes to support your store’s business needs (this includes but not limited to weekly changes, large floor flips, expansion of categories or areas of the store etc)
  • Using discretion & judgement to modify HO & HQ Visual Directives to support store’s business needs
  • Analyze and interpret sales trends to provide strategic input for visual merchandising decisions that maximize profitability and elevate the brand's presence.
  • Measure the effectiveness of merchandising initiatives through KPIs such as sales growth, customer feedback, and in-store conversion rates, and adjust strategies accordingly.

 

Budget

  • Manage all yearly budgets to ensure compliance (i.e. T&E, decoration, freelance)

 

Communication

  • Create an effective communication process with your Field Manager to support Retail Store Business needs
  • Partner with Home Office Visual team to communicate any Visual needs & to obtain any updates from HO & HQ.
  • Weekly touch base with your Field Manager to determine area priorities, travel, and goals
  • Upload installation photos per HO deadlines after installations
  • Obtain feedback from HO team & effectively communicate this back to your stores with Field Manager partnership
  • Provide a store visit recap/report with before and after photos for key projects + visits to share with your Field Manager & HO Visual Team/Retail Team
  • Quick-thinking and ability to resolve issues relating to product availability, store performance, or unexpected operational challenges, maintaining a calm and focused approach

Training

  • Coordinate, participate and facilitate Visual related topics during intercompany meetings or trainings.  
  • Ensure that all VM guidelines are executed across all stores based on deadline
  • Ensure consistent follow thru of VM guidelines throughout the entire season
  • Train retail stores on all Diesel Visual Guidelines and Merchandising standards

 

Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with: Field Manager, Store Management, Retail and Outlet Planning and Buying Team, and US Visual Team
  • Maintain and communicate a thorough understanding of all relevant company, store, brand and product information
  • Abide by and communicate all Diesel Policies and Procedures
  • Ability to problem solve, to work in fast paced environment, to handle difficult situations and to provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers and employees
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of Visual Merchandisers, Store Managers, and Associates to consistently deliver high-quality merchandising and drive sales.
  • Mentor and support junior Visual Merchandisers and other team members in their personal and professional growth, focusing on enhancing their skills in visual merchandising and creative thinking.

 

Operations & Loss Prevention

  • Maximize efficiency and protect business integrity by applying store operation policies and procedures
  • Manage monthly travel schedule so it is in line with the business needs, priorities and budget in partnership with your Field Manager
  • Store Maintenance
    1. Partner with your Field Manager on Communicating any maintenance needs, or quality issues to home office teams
    2. Ensure that the store windows and in store presentation is clean and always maintained
    3. Ensure that all fixtures and furniture are always maintained and communicated to IDD with any issue
  • Ensure that all Visual Merchandising materials, tools and supplies are organized and in good repair
  • Accountability for the implementation of all loss prevention Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure that all product is merchandised to minimize inventory shrinkage

 

 

Preferred Skills

  • 4-year degree and/or equivalent combination of work and experience
  • Creative experience: styling, merchandising, and/or art background
  • College Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in delivering training
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 60% of the workweek)
  • Ability and authorization to drive a motor vehicle
  • Proficiency with Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and networking skills, with ability to motivate, persuade, and instill enthusiasm
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Knowledge of denim/casual wear market and associated trends
  • Passion for the brand and ability to serve as a brand ambassador
  • Exposure to both wholesale accounts and specialty stores

 

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000
