Job Purpose

 

  • The Senior Buyer is responsible for ensuring that the merchandise strategy for the assigned departments meets or exceeds financial plans for the Full Price channel.
  • Acts as leader with the cross functional teams (buying, planning, online, visual merchandising, marketing, logistics, store field teams, and wholesale).
  • Ensures North American product mix for each channel is appropriately tailored for local needs while supporting global brand strategy.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for accurate management of the local merchandising strategy, product assortment, accurate order entry, seasonal deliveries, and inventory.
  • Maximizes sales and optimizes sku productivity minimizing end-of-season excess stock by properly developing seasonal assortment structure, sku counts, and category mix across assigned collections.
  • Ensures product assortments are curated to achieve company sales targets and inventory objectives.
  • Partners with Director of Merchandising, regional buying team, and the global merchandising team to develop local Seasonal Merchandising strategy for assigned collections ensuring local trend, product, and business needs are achieved.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and seasonal selling reports providing key findings based on analysis of the business.
  • Responsible for consistently communicating business recommendations to maximize sales opportunities, inventories, and exploit regional trends 
  • Organizes and communicates product launches, ensuring local strategic initiatives and product knowledge is accurately conveyed to all necessary business partners.
  • Manages accurate order entry process and ensures all transmissions are properly executed and communicated to HQ Customer Service partners within order deadlines.
  • Maintain industry awareness and knowledge of retailers through consistent competitive shopping and industry analysis.
  • Builds and maintains strong cross functional relationships with Global HQ Diesel teams and all third-party vendors.
  • Partners with Global Merchandising team for stock opportunities, product development and re-cutting needs.
  • Maintains up to date Delivery, On Order and Open orders Reports on a weekly basis.

Education/Licenses/ Certifications

 

4-year Degree in Merchandising or Business.

 

Ideal Experiences

 

  • 5+ years buying and/or merchandising experience working with women's apparel, denim, & accessories.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with ability to influence through supporting data and analysis
  • Expertise in retail math, pricing, margins, and profitability; Ability to leverage KPI’s
  • High profciency in Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and networking skills, with ability to motivate, persuade, and instill enthusiasm.
  • Knowledge of luxury and fashion market and associated trends; Ability to identify and capitalize on market trends
  • Passion for the Diesel brand, fashion trends, and ability to serve as a brand ambassador
  • Experience successfully partnering through effective communication with internal customers (from Diesel stores to HQ business partners) and external vendors (licensees).

Salary range: $105k-$115k
