Sr. Director, Store Planning and Interior Design

Job Purpose

The Director/Sr. Director of Store Planning & Interior Design will lead the US and Canada Store Planning & Interior Design (SPID) team for the Diesel North American market. This role will partner with local leadership and Diesel HQ, to build the strategic plans, design, and execute all new store openings, shop in shops, refits and special projects.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manager the project schedule and budget for new store openings and renovations 
  • Make recommendations based on market trends and strategy for growth in the retail sector
  • Manages all aspects of new store opening operations, including project scheduling and planning; logistics coordination; sourcing and delivery of all store supplies and equipment; and coordinating with cross functional teams (Retail Operations, Visual Merchandising, Buying Department, IT, Marketing, Finance, and Logistics) to ensure store is fully operational for an on-time store opening
  • Facilitate approval process between USA and HQ and provide feedback to HQ for all store design implementation
  • Active participant in weekly store opening/renovation project meetings and provides on going status reports of schedule compliance with relevant teams
  • Manages all aspects of store renovation operations, including project planning and working with store management to minimize business and operational interruptions during renovations
  • Ensures that all proper certification and authorization is obtained and local construction codes are followed
  • Partners with the Diesel NA Finance Department to make certain that invoices are being processed.
  • Report to SPID HQ architects and liaison with local Architects to maintain deadlines, purchase materials, record contracts/invoices and monitoring of budgets
  • Continually seeks technical improvements to store environment and operations.  Works with Store Design, Retail Operations, IT, and others to implement
  •  Proficiency in AUTOCAD Software (required knowledge) for planning and design purposes
  • Leads department projects to improve systems, design and processes to ensure economic and Diesel USA standard are intact
  • Experience in designing, constructing and facilitating new store openings

Experience Required

  • 4 yr degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience to Architecture, Interior Design/ New Store Planning preferred
  • 10+ years previous experience in Store Design and Project Management
  • Ability to manage a team and collaborate with cross functional partners
  • Demonstrated experience to make strategic recommendations in accordance with all design ideas and implementations
  • Experience building constructive, collaborative, and credible relationships with a diverse group of business partners, across all levels of management
  • Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Applications
  • Ability to evaluate and speak to financial and business indicators, and translate data into actionable information to drive results; Expert in financial measurement concepts, and how to influence them
  • Highly proficient in Autocad
  • Understanding of Diesel concepts, ideas and evolution of company
  • Willingness to travel extensively during new projects
  • Strong communication and networking skills, with ability to motivate, persuade, and instill enthusiasm

 

Salary range: $140k-$180k
