Maison Margiela is a Paris-based fashion house founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. Celebrating unconventional aesthetics and embracing the philosophy that fashion is an art of expression rather than a cult of personality, Maison Margiela offers haute couture, ready-to-wear for women and men, contemporary line MM6, footwear, interior design, and accessories, including leather goods, fine jewelry and fragrance.

We are looking for Design intern for September 1st

The design intern will be responsible of assisting the designer in creating new designs starting from research till final product.

Hierarchical reporting: Designer

Job Responsibilities and Activities : 

• Assist the design team with the day-to-day needs, and participate in the development of the entire creative design process
• Support with the research and picture database, update collection boards and overviews
• Support the designers with stitching toiles and mockups, make stitch trials, prepare mockups for finishings
• Communicate and work closely with the different departments
• Prepare launch sheets with technical details
• Assist the design team in fitting sessions and fitting/meeting preparations

Skills and Experience :

• MA degree in Fashion Design. Please note that you need to be connected to a school/program, as a student or graduate. 
• Available for a period of 6 months
• Solid knowledge in womenswear and menswear design
• Fluency in English language is an essential requirement
• Adobe suite skills are a must, with the ability to use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to a high standard
• Very thorough knowledge of fashion history, archetypes
• Good sewing skills both on industrial and domestic machines
• Know-how of specific finishing techniques and finishing’s for each product category
• Strong interest and motivation to create high end collections
• A team player with very good communication skills
• Being flexible and at the same time structured and organized
